Mair Sweeps Homestead in RMS Rental FE
HOMESTEAD, FL (September 2009)
Matthew Mair, of Miami Florida, raced the Robinson Motor Sports Formula Enterprises (FE) at Homestead Miami-Dade Speedway this weekend and won both national points races.
Besides winning the races, he qualified on the pole for both events and set fastest race lap on Sunday’s 20 lap race.
“The car was perfect, Mark had it set up exactly as I need it” Matthew said of RMS crew chief Mark Eaton.
After qualifying on the pole for the Saturday race of the double header weekend, Mair evaded a first lap, first turn 4 car accident on the start of the race. He flat spotted the front tires in the avoidance maneuver which caused him some problems in the race. While leading the entire 50 miles, Mair had to modulate the front brake pressure so the front tires would not lock up on the flat spots. He maintained a 1 second lead to the checkered flag, his first national points race win in his first national race!
Sunday picked up right where Saturday left off. He qualified on the pole, won the race and this time set fastest race lap! His margin of victory was almost 20 seconds, pulling away by a second a lap in the 20 lap race!
Matthew is now focusing on the 2010 Sports Car Club of America Formula Enterprises national championship. His next event is the double national race at Sebring on January 8th thru the 10th, 2010.
Matthew rents the Robinson Motor Sports prepared Formula Enterprises that he drives in these races. Robinson Motor Sports has 3 FE cars that can be rented, and all 3 FE cars have won races with multiple drivers while in the care of Robinson Motor Sports.
